Television Work
The Great Amazon Heist
At the end of 2023, Oobah broke the internet yet again while turning his attention to one of the world’s biggest corporations in his debut TV documentary, The Great Amazon Heist, which was released on Channel 4. The film broke international news and was featured on television and the biggest news sources around the world. This unified people across the political spectrum, with the likes of Fox News saying it “exposes serious allegations about the tech giant’s corporate culture”. At the same time, Wired claimed it “portrays a company that simply doesn’t seem to care."
With a combination of hardcore undercover reporting and Butler-patented stunts like creating an energy drink from Amazon drivers’ urine, listing it on their platform, and manipulating it to be a #1 product, this film was hailed in a 5-star review by The Daily Telegraph as an “ingenious exposé” and a sign that Butler has matured without losing what has made his career so explosive to date.
You can stream the documentary on Channel 4 or their Youtube channel.
MTV Catfish UK
Ten episodes of Catfish UK debuted in 2021 on MTV across 180 countries, drawing in the channel’s biggest audience in the UK in three years and trending across Twitter. Oobah was joined by online personality Nella Rose for seasons 2 and 3, with the show finishing in March 2023.
Hosted by Julie Adenuga and Oobah Butler, the show follows the same format as the US version of Catfish, which sees the hosts help viewers track down love interests they’ve met online before discovering if the person they think is their soulmate has been using their real identity or not.
The series is available for streaming on MTV Play and Amazon Prime.
